Best chicken momos recipe

 

Here is a simple recipe for making delicious chicken momos:

Ingredients:

  • For the dough:

    • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon of oil
    • 3/4 cup of warm water
  • For the filling:

    • 500g of minced chicken
    • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
    • 2 garlic cloves, minced
    • 1 tablespoon of ginger, minced
    • 1 teaspoon of soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon of vinegar
    • 1 teaspoon of salt
    • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon of coriander powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala
    • 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon of ajinomoto (optional)
    • 2 tablespoons of chopped cilantro
    • 1 tablespoon of oil

Instructions:

  1. To make the dough, mix flour, salt, baking powder, and oil in a large mixing bowl. Gradually add warm water to form a soft dough.
  2. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. To make the filling, heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Cook until the onion is soft and translucent.
  4. Add minced chicken to the frying pan and cook until browned.
  5. Add soy sauce, vinegar, salt, black pepper, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and ajinomoto (if using). Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Turn off the heat and stir in chopped cilantro. Allow the filling to cool.
  7. Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a thin circle about 4 inches in diameter.
  8. Place a tablespoon of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle.
  9. Pleat the edges of the dough to form a momo, ensuring that the filling is securely enclosed.
  10. Place the momos in a steamer basket, leaving some space between them.
  11. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil. Place the steamer basket over the boiling water, cover the pot with a lid, and steam the momos for 15-20 minutes or until fully cooked.
  12. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
